Western Buddhist Monk Speaks at Kadampa Meditation Center Arizona

Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab

Retired International General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, of the New Kadampa Tradition/International Kadampa Buddhist Union, is coming to Kadampa Meditation Center Arizona, in Tucson, for two events on August 24 and 25. The top-level Western Buddhist monk will speak on practical methods for meditation in our daily life to overcome the discontentment, agitation and mental anxiety of our modern lives.

On August 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in a public talk on contentment, Khyenrab will discuss how all the difficulties we have in our relationships with others come because we do not know how to be content. Without contentment, we are spiritually impoverished even if we possess a great amount of wealth. Learn how to find your way to a peace of mind that lasts.

On August 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Khyenrab will host a workshop titled “The Peace of a More Balanced Life”. While we remain attached to resources and respect, pleasure, a good reputation and praise, our mind is unbalanced, we are vulnerable and emotionally dependent upon these things. In this day course, Khyenrab will explain how we can free ourselves from debilitating attitudes, so that we can experience true peace in our lives.

Cost: Friday talk - $20/prepay, $25/door; Saturday workshop - $45/prepay, $50/door. Attend both for $55 prepaid. Includes lunch if pre-registered by August 22. Location: 5326 E. Pima St., Tucson. For more information, call 520-441-1617, email [email protected] or visit MeditationInTucson.org.
