Essential Oils Curb the Opioid Epidemic

Currently we know there is a growing opioid epidemic. Doctors are over-prescribing highly addictive medications for pain and inflammation. In addition to that, there is abuse of NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). While these may work really well, people don’t know the side effects from these medications, including harm to the liver, kidneys, digestive system and heart.

There is an overwhelming use of both of these medications. Essential oils have been used for centuries for inflammation and pain. There have been many studies to prove how the essential oils work at a cellular level and on the nervous system. For instance, Frankincense is a very popular oil for inflammation. It is commonly used for people who have arthritis and general joint pain.

Another great example is dōTERRA’s Copaiba. It helps clam, soothe and support the nervous system. This essential oil is similar to CBD oil, but does not contain psychoactive cannabinoids like marijuana-derived products. These are just a couple of the many options with essential oils. The right knowledge and wellness advocate can guide people to ease issues such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, knee pain, back pain, fibromyalgia and more.

Tammy Longhurst is a wellness advocate with dōTERRA Essential Oils, finding what works for clients and educating on the use of essential oils.
