#FloatForMAPS Raises Money to Help Ease PTSD

In July, Cloud Nine Flotation, along with float centers around the world, is cooperating in the #FloatForMAPS fundraising campaign. Founded in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a nonprofit research and educational organization that develops medical, legal and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana. Participating centers have a #FloatforMAPS gift card available throughout July, where 15 percent of proceeds go to MAPS’ study that is bringing groundbreaking treatment to those with PTSD.

In their MDMA-assisted psychotherapy to treat PTSD, MAPS had groundbreaking results with their Phase 2 trials, where participants showed remarkable results: 68 percent of the 107 participants no longer showed symptoms after just three sessions of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. Follow-up studies showed that these benefits were sustained, on average, 45 months later (nearly unheard of in traditional treatments for PTSD).

MAPS has taken huge steps toward a viable, rigorously-tested system of MDMA therapy. They are fundraising for the final phase of the study, and need $500,000 to complete the final trial. Float centers are uniting to make this therapy a legal option for those with PTSD.

“If you love floating, or want to try, this is the perfect time. Your money will be helping you, and an amazing cause,” explains Katherine Kennedy, Flotician at Cloud Nine Flotation. “To see if your local center is participating, visit FloatForMAPS.com and check the ‘participating centers’ map. Be sure to purchase the #FloatForMAPS gift card.”
