Effectively Treating Acne and Sebaceous Gland Disorders

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the main culprit when it comes to acne and other skin issues, due to its stimulatory effect to sebaceous (oil) glands. People with acne often have sebaceous glands that are hypersensitive to DHT.

This hypersensitivity causes excess amounts of sebum to be produced and leads to the enlargement of pores. The more sebum being produced, the more likely skin diseases will occur. Common sebaceous gland disorders include adult and teenage acne vulgaris, blackheads, sebaceous hyperplasia, seborrheic dermatitis, milia and steatoma.

DHT is a byproduct of testosterone when it comes into contact with 5-alpha-reductase enzymes—which can be found in the highest amounts within the skin, scalp, prostate and central nervous system. Beta-sitosterol, applied topically, works by inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase within the skin only. By going straight to the source and preventing the buildup of this enzyme, the treatment can help regulate and ultimately bring balance to oil production.

Nothing to Hide Acne Cream, developed by Plexy Labs, is an all-natural based treatment for acne and other sebaceous gland disorders, which is the first of its kind when it comes to treating acne with the topical use of beta-sitosterol.
