Our immune system is a complicated assortment of large intestinal cells called Peyer’s patches to immunoglobulins that remember the flu we had three years ago. It does its best to protect us, beginning at our skin and into and through our intestinal walls.
Our bodies and immune systems are being taxed by toxins, pesticides, herbicides, parasites, molds, fungus, bacteria and viruses. It’s quite the miracle that we aren’t all ill in some shape or form from these outside stressors, however our bodies are amazingly adaptable as we have seen over hundreds of years. We are still here and thriving due to our immune system’s adaptations.
What can we do to stay healthy and keep our immune system strong?
• Eat as clean as possible, avoiding sugar and processed foods, which dampen our immune system’s capacity. Avoid all phony sugars.
• Add in some extra vitamin C. Consider eating an orange or grapefruit or putting lemon in water daily. Try a chewable or powder form if needed.
• Support liver function by adding in Milk Thistle. Our livers are working hard to convert toxins to harmless materials, so they can be cleared out without damaging the body. When the liver is working optimally, the immune system is supported as well.
• Before turning on the heat this winter, make sure that vents, ducts and filters are clean.
• Wash bed linens weekly in hot water and dry on hot. Vacuum under the bed, as lots of allergens congregate under beds.
• Stay well hydrated. Water is the source of all life—including our cells.
• Get enough sleep. Relax by reading or meditating before bed to calm the body and mind.
• Emotions challenge our health, causing our immune system to falter. Be forgiving of yourself and others.
