Why Sacred Space is Needed in Local Communities

Sacred Space, a new model of public contemplative practice, local storytelling and community connection, meets Sundays, from 4:10-5:30 p.m., in Tucson. Sacred Space is a secular and interfaith regular gathering for consciousness development, where all are welcome to gather weekly for inspiration from the world’s spiritual traditions, varied local musicians and speakers and community connection.

“Most people need live support to grow, unite across traditional divides and change habits for the purpose of a collaborative, sustainable society. Sacred Space provides a safe and informed space to do that—a space to experience both stillness and exuberance, outside of institutional religion,” explains Rev. Teresa Cowan Jones. “It is the only model of its kind that offers contemplative education and practice by donation on a regular basis.”

The Sacred Space mission is to cultivate compassion and be a source of public renewal and contemplative education, so that we can increase our capacity to work together toward collaborative solutions. This work is based in the current global movement for building compassionate community, which is dedicated to generating understanding and cooperation between people of all backgrounds and beliefs. Sacred Space also offers small groups and classes.
