Effects of Low Level Laser

Many have heard of Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also called cold or soft laser. This red light therapy is now being used to treat many things including: wound healing, peripheral neuropathy, diabetic nerve pain, brain injuries and stroke, stem cell proliferation, gum disease, sports recovery, lymphedema from cancer and more.

Here’s how it works. The wavelength of red light stimulates the mitochondria of our cells to produce ATP, which is the fuel for all cellular processes. Thus, with more fuel, the cells have more ability to work, heal and repair.

This red wavelength inhibits the ability of viruses and bacteria to survive. LLLT can also be used to treat acupuncture points. Probably one of the more profound effects is softening scar tissue, which aids in treatment for chronic conditions like myofascitis, sports and work injuries and post-surgical scars.
