Natural Awakenings Tucson

Meet the Cover Arist, Ralph Prata

Using a combination of carved concrete and found materials, Tucson artist Ralph Prata
creates each artwork through a spontaneous and improvisational process. He individually hand executes all assemblage pieces in the moment while drawing his inspiration from listening to music. His freestanding and wall hanging artworks are collected throughout the U.S. and Asia.

This month’s cover image, Warrior, is a 40 x 16 x 3 wall-hanging (detail) created by Prata
using found, recycled and repurposed materials found in the Tucson and surrounding desert area.

Prata will be exhibiting his sculptural concrete carvings and found material assemblages at the 2024 Tucson Sculpture Festival Show & Sale at the Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, from March 15 through 17. For show information, call 520-955-4973 or visit SculptureTucson.org.

Prata’s work can also be seen in a Group Assemblage Exhibit at the Triangle L Ranch in Oracle, from April 2 through June 1. For more information, visit TriangleLRanch.com.
