Nutrients That Can Enhance Detoxification

The following nutrients are good to keep in mind when thinking about enhancing detoxification. See a doctor for more details.

Glutathione is the cell’s major protection against free radicals produced by toxins such as aspartame and other additives. It is best used in IV form, although may be in oral form now.

Curcumin is for better absorption. Take in coconut milk, the active ingredient of turmeric. It’s an extremely powerful antioxidant, antibiotic, antifungal, enhances detoxification, enhances bile flow, inhibits cancer growth and is a very powerful anti-inflammatory.

Vitamin C (as magnesium or Calcium ascorbate) plays a major role in cell protection against free radicals and stress, protects the nervous system and enhances tissue repair.

Milk Thistle is an herb that has been shown to substantially enhance liver detoxification, and is a very powerful antioxidant for all cells.

Vitamin B6 plays a major role in protecting against glutamate and aspartate toxicity. People exposed to chemical toxins frequently have low levels of this vitamin. When vitamin B6 is deficient, Taurine is also low.

Taurine is a sulfur-containing amino acid that is used by the liver for cleansing the system.

Indole-3 Carbinol is a natural substance that enhances immune function. It is extracted from cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower.

Panthethine is the enzyme form of pantothenic acid. It plays a vital role in enhancing the aldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme—for formaldehyde detoxification.

Thiamine (Vitamin B1) plays a major role in protecting nerves as well as the brain. It is commonly depleted with pesticide exposure.

Magnesium (citrate/malate) plays a major role in cell protection, especially against toxic pollution. It also protects against strokes and heart attacks.

Selenium also plays a role in protecting cells from toxins, especially mercury. It plays a major role in protecting against free radicals.

N-acetyl L-cysteine (NAC) is a substance that in cells is converted to glutathione. Glutathione is our cells’ major protection against free radicals produced by toxins such as aspartame. In addition, NAC removes mercury.

DHA is a component of Omega-3. It plays a vital role in membrane repair and nurturing of the brain.
