This month, we’re highlighting the “Healthy Planet” portion of the Natural Awakenings motto. Sustainability is always of interest to us here, and Tucson is part of the venture to move toward a greener, kinder planet.

In “Sustainable Sanctuaries”, on page 24, learn about how our homes can be made to better coexist with our environment, while protecting us and keeping us as healthy as possible. Whether you are building a new house, looking to move or doing small improvements here and there in your home, this article has great information about the best practices for living sustainably.

In an inspiring Artist Spotlight, we meet a local photographer who has made it her mission to highlight the beauty and power of women over 50. Each of her images is unique and stunning, just like the women she photographs. On page 30, read more and learn about her gallery event on October 13.

When was the last time you had a beet? Our Conscious Eating article dives into the health and flavor benefits of adding more beets into our diets. Brighten up your plate by trying out one of the several recipes on page 34.

As always, take some time to check out our local News and Event Briefs. You might meet some new faces, learn about an event that you’d love to attend or a modality that could help you on your health journey.

Be well,
Holly
