At Natural Awakenings, we’re always up for discussions of green living—and especially so in this month’s Eco-Living edition.

In “Green Sustainable Building Practices” on page 18, dive into the world of eco-friendly construction with Brian Johnson, a Building Biologist and general contractor with SENERGY360. He teaches us more about the principles observed while creating healthy, eco-friendly spaces and communities.

Plastic is certainly “one of the most vexing environmental challenges of our lifetime”, as Kevin Greene states in “Hold the Plastic, Please”. Learn more about the plastic problem, and some easy ways to remove more plastics from your lifestyle, on page 20.

Speaking of less, have you ever thought about “The Joys of Minimalism”? Read about how to examine what is essential, valuable and really matters to keep in our lives and homes on page 22.

Also relevant, in an Eco Brief on page 13, we talk about a recent decision on Arizona’s statewide solar policy that could affect many of us who use solar energy at home. Read more about how this might impact you and be sure to make your voice heard where it counts.

As the holiday season is upon us, we’re also sharing some great tips for staying motivated to work out and maintain a healthy lifestyle during this busy, stressful time. In “Holiday Workouts” on page 16, find joy, togetherness and variety in your fitness routine.

To a happy, healthy and green holiday season,
Holly
