Men’s health and vitality can mean many things. For me, true vitality has never been simply about strength or performance. It is something deeper. It is about showing up fully in life with energy, purpose and presence. It is about feeling engaged in mind, body and spirit while maintaining a connection to the things that ground and sustain us.

Living in Tucson offers daily reminders of what that kind of vitality can look like. There is something about the desert landscape that encourages awareness and reflection. The mountains, vast skies and quiet beauty of the Sonoran Desert seem to call us back to what is essential. Men often carry many responsibilities throughout life, but there is also a spiritual dimension to masculinity that is not always part of the conversation. It is the adventurous spirit that seeks new horizons and remains open to discovery. It is the man who feels renewed standing among towering saguaros at sunrise, restored after time spent on a trail or reconnected through a moment of stillness beneath an expansive desert sky. It is curiosity, resilience and freedom. It is the willingness to continue learning, growing and evolving throughout every season of life.

As we move into June, Tucson reminds us that summer has arrived. Temperatures begin to climb and many of us naturally shift our routines, starting our days a little earlier for morning walks, hikes or bike rides before the desert heat settles in. We also come to appreciate the season’s simple pleasures: cooler evenings on a patio, local markets, outdoor gatherings and sunset skies that paint the mountains in changing colors. Living here teaches us there is wisdom in adapting to the rhythms of nature rather than pushing against them.

This month’s issue, Men Built to Thrive, explores health and vitality from a more complete perspective. Our feature article, The Facts About Low Testosterone, on page 14 examines a topic receiving significant attention and offers insights about energy, aging and well-being that can benefit all of us.

If you are a man and picked up this edition, I hope you find something useful and supportive in your daily life. If you are a woman reading this issue, there is much here for you as well, and I hope you will share it with the men in your life who may benefit.

June also brings Father’s Day, offering an opportunity to honor the men who step into the role of fatherhood and mentorship. Some are fathers by birth, while others become father figures through guidance, support and simply being present. The men who encourage us, teach us and quietly show up for us often leave an impact far greater than they realize.

As we move through this month, I encourage all of us to celebrate those meaningful connections and remember that thriving is not solely about productivity or achievement. It is also about living with intention, maintaining balance and cultivating a life rooted in health, purpose and joy.
Wishing you a month of vitality, meaningful connection and beautiful moments beneath our Tucson skies.
