Breathwork for Health and Well-Being
Healthier breathing for relaxation and better sleep
In this workshop, certified breathwork and yoga instructor Lydia McDowell will introduce you to the fundamentals of functional breathing and guide you in techniques that can be practiced daily to cultivate healthy breathing behaviors. Drawing from modern breathing research, Qigong, and the Buteyko Method, this part-educational, part- experiential workshop will introduce you to breathwork techniques that focus on a particular application: Breathing for Better Sleep
You take about 20,000 breaths every day. But when is the last time you paid attention to how you were breathing? Stress, anxiety, postural patterns, injury, and illness are all ways our breathing habits can become sub-optimal over time, affecting the quality of our sleep, how much energy is available to us, and our body’s ability to process the demands of our daily lives. By learning to consciously re-adjust our breathing using simple, repeatable techniques, we can restore and improve this most essential part of our health. From here, we can begin to engage our breath as an ally to bring us greater calm, clarity, and vitality. Expect a relaxing environment to practice what you’ve learned. Each class will culminate with a guided breathwork journey accompanied by singing bowls and soothing music.
