Good Old-Fashioned Minty Goodness

Nov 29, 2012 11:57AM

“Peppermint Jim” Crosby is a fourth-generation grower and artisan distiller of mint essential oils. He earned his nickname at a young age growing up on his family’s farm that was established in1912 by his greatgrandfather in Michigan. A century later, he now grows the same mint in southern Arizona. He says, “The tricky thing about essential oils is that you never truly know what you’re getting. The label could say ‘pure,’ but the oil may contain up to 49 percent synthetics, alcohol or a blend of oils from different countries of origin.

When you get it straight from a farmer, like with anything, you can meet the grower, ask questions and know you’re getting the real deal.” Peppermint Jim retails the farm-distilled, pure peppermint and spearmint essential oils used by many for headaches, migraines, congestion, cold sores and more, as well as other high-quality mint products such as lotions, lip balms and candles. Peppermint Jim is sold at dozens of farmers’ markets in the Tucson area and at selected retailers.
