Barbara Peters Joins Natural Awakenings

Barbara Peters and Holly Baker

Natural Awakenings magazine Tucson welcomes Barbara Peters aboard as director of marketing, dedicated to creating a stronger and healthier community of businesses and patrons in the healthy living, healthy planet community.

Peters will work closely with Publisher Holly Baker to expand the magazine’s roster of advertisers and distributors and contribute to the creative elements that drive its longstanding and highly respected position in our community.

Her credentials include a Master of Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Since relocating to Tucson in 2010, Barbara founded the Body and Sol Women’s Expo, an annual event to help to fuel our local economy by bringing together small business owners with the buying power of women in the community. In 2012, she partnered with Baker to grow the Expo with a greater focus on health and wellness.

Peters served for 14 years as CFO of Mulvanny G2 Architecture, a Pacific Northwest design firm, and at different times managed the firm’s finances, marketing, human resources and IT departments, spearheaded multiple office relocations and nurtured major client relationships. On her watch, the company grew from 14 employees to a firm with international presence, 375 employees and $44 million in annual revenue.

As early as age 11, Peters was rolling up her sleeves to solve obstacles faced by her non-English speaking parents, learning to listen with attention and empathy early in life. Today, those skills continue to play a key role in working with entrepreneurial clients seeking to grow their business.
