Before & After Microneedling

The United States is seeing a marked increase in people reporting and experiencing hair loss. Along with that rise comes an increase in medications and supplements being offered to address the issue. These treatments can vary in effectiveness because many are designed to slow certain bodily processes or stimulate others that may be affected by underlying factors.

Clinical studies have identified many contributors to hair loss beyond genetics. Common factors include stress, hormonal changes, medical conditions, nutrient deficiencies, medications and even certain hair care products. Adding to the complexity, hair loss may result from one factor or several occurring simultaneously, making it important to look at the body as a whole rather than focusing on a single cause.

Microneedling and cosmetic acupuncture offer an approach that addresses hair loss on multiple levels. Acupuncture has shown promising results in clinical studies and may support hair regrowth by helping restore balance throughout the body while also targeting points associated with circulation and hair growth. Treatment may be used on the scalp as well as the beard, mustache and eyebrows.

Microneedling uses a pen-like device with a cartridge containing tiny needles that create controlled stimulation in the skin. The process may help stimulate hair follicles, reduce inflammation, increase collagen production, improve circulation and encourage new growth in targeted areas. Topical numbing agents may also be used to increase comfort during treatment.
Additional therapies are often incorporated to enhance results. Dietary therapy may help address nutritional gaps, while red and blue light therapy can support circulation, collagen production and inflammation reduction. Herbs and supplements may also be recommended to provide nutrients associated with healthy hair and nails.

A standard treatment plan may include one microneedling session each month along with weekly cosmetic acupuncture sessions over an eight-week period.
