Wellness For Everyone at Natural Way Wellness SpaApr 29, 2012 05:32PM ● By Elka Tempest Love
Natural Way Wellness Spa is the most accessible, natural, destination in Tucson for personal wellbeing. The spa’s primary goal is to provide an all-natural whole body health experience that encompasses skin treatments, aromatherapy, massage and yoga. Owner Keri Gabriel and her hand-picked therapeutic practitioners believe in providing affordable services so that everyone may achieve a well balanced mind, body and spirit.
The spa just opened its doors on April 14, during the most recent of downtown Tucson’s Second Saturday events. Gabriel is enthusiastic about being part of the strong, established and growing community in downtown Tucson and 4th Avenue. It is clear there is a population of working professionals, youth and retired men and women that are dedicated to wellness in everyday practice. Considering the philosophy of Natural Way Wellness Spa, there will be a graceful merging with these richly diverse community members and businesses.
The inspiration for opening Natural Way Wellness spa came through Keri Gabriel’s passion for skin health. Keri practices balance in her own daily regime, including yoga morning and night, to develop and maintain strength. She says it is the best way one can wake up and also to find closure to the day. She is a licensed aesthetician and has worked in a variety of spa positions, including marketing and sales. Gabriel has a strong passion for organic and natural products. She has personally experienced profound and extensive health challenges that drove her to believe in and gain a deeper respect and understanding of holistic, alternative approaches to health care needs. She
says that she observed an unmet need in town for the combined therapies of massage, natural skin treatment and yoga. Her main motivation for opening was to provide affordable and natural services to Tucson. She opened the spa as a labor of love.
One of the most popular therapies provided at Natural Way Wellness Spa is massage. Massage is approached not simply as a soothing
treatment to aching muscles, but as a technique to address core issues that lead to tension and stress, causing misalignment in the body and muscle symptoms. Questions such as, “Where is the stress coming from?” and “How can we address symptoms the body is expressing in a way that may lighten the daily experience and cause these symptoms to dissipate?” are considered by the capable practitioners. A variety of modalities are offered, including Swedish, trigger point, deep-tissue, sports, reflexology and prenatal. A standard 50-minute massage is offered for $45, Specialty 80-minute for $65. and a Deluxe 110-minute for $85. As well as a mini, 25-minute massage, which is perfect for short lunch breaks. Many upgrades, including hot stone additions, are available for 50-minute or longer massages.
Also on the menu are body wraps and scrubs. These treatments are intended to increase circulation, as well as detoxify the skin, lymph and fat cells of the body. For a truly therapeutic experience, 45-minute session body wraps are offered. Choices include an Herbal Wrap, which also alleviates muscle pain and sore joints, priced at $60, and an Inch-Loss Wrap, which decreases the size of fat cells, thus slimming one’s figure, priced at $85. Exfoliating and hydrating Salt Scrubs are ideal for skin that exhibits symptoms of our dry, desert climate. A 25-minute treatment is priced at $40 and the Deluxe 45-minute, which also includes hydrating coconut and essential oils, at $60.
Therapeutic facial treatments are also provided by insightful aestheticians. The skin is the largest organ in the body and the last to receive nutrients. Thus, one must eat a healthy diet, drink enough water and supplement the skin’s nutritional needs through product that is recognizable as nutrients. Gentle organic and natural products, free from harsh chemicals, facilitate vibrant and glowing skin. Practitioners are trained to balance individual skin challenges through thoughtful analysis and effective facial massage techniques and products for men and women aged 16 to 90-something. The Standard, 50-minute facial is provided at $45, the Specialty, 80-minute session which includes an herbal infusion and advanced treatment mask is $70, and the Deluxe 110-minute session includes an enzyme peel, standard aromatherapy, and hand and foot salt scrub is priced at only $90. Upgrades to the Standard Facial such as a Chemical Peel or Advanced Treatment Mask are available for $10 to $25, depending on the treatment.
Aromatherapy, a time-honored tradition, developed through generations of herb-lore and wisdom, is also offered as an upgrade to any service. Standard aromatherapy includes three basic blends: Stress Relief, Energizing or Muscle Relaxing, for $10. A Custom, ayurvedicaromatherapy blend, intended to balance individual Dosha, can be added to any treatment or as a standalone. Aromatherapy is an excellent way to battle everyday stresses with easy-to-carry therapeutic relief. Clients may take the blend home in salts, oil or lotion for $30.
Completing spa services for men and women is a comprehensive waxing menu. Facial and body waxing is provided by sensitive and caring professionals, according to client’s desired results. Advice on aftercare and follow-up appointments is provided in a gentle, accessible manner.
In accordance with the Whole Body Health tradition, Natural Way Wellness Spa also offers personal yoga for health instruction in 25- or 50-minute sessions for $25 and $45, respectively. The spa is looking forward to more extensive Wellness workshops and classes to be offered by community wellness practitioners on Sundays at a future date.
Wellness practitioners at Natural Way Wellness Spa are accessible and develop ongoing relationships with the community members they interact with. They believe in providing individuals with the highest degree of thoughtful, personal attention. These attributes, combined with the comprehensive services offered by the spa, contribute to binding strong ties in the 4th Avenue district.
