IONS Program Addresses End-of-Life Issues

Marianne Schloss

Marianne Schloss, RN, MDiv, a community educator at Casa de la Luz Hospice, will address the Tucson Chapter of the Institute of Noetic Sciences at 6:30 p.m., June 4, at Unity of Tucson. She will describe how the end of life is part of the human journey, but that we often enter that phase of our lives or that of our loved ones without having explored its meaning or thoughtfully prepared for the dying process.

Schloss will describe, from personal experience and working as a hospice nurse, chaplain, and educator for 12 years, how we are living in a time when medical knowledge and technology can prolong life, yet are often called upon to make medical and ethical decisions for ourselves or our loved ones. Often, these choices are made during a crisis and without the information and support we need.

The presentation is designed to empower participants to be less fearful of and more knowledgeable about the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social dimensions of death and dying.
