ProjekK hair studio is the vision of owner/stylist Kathie Takach, who wanted her workplace to be the ideal haven. Open since June, this cozy salon in the courtyard of Placita de la Luna, a community of artists, is aromatic with pine, rosemary, lavender and oils used in aromatherapy.

Although Takach trained at the Vidal Sassoon school, her haircuts are freer, using natural textures to work with the entire person. The cuts grow out well and need minimal styling. Takach wanted ProjekK to reflect the concept of “do no harm.” All supplies are non-toxic and earth-friendly.

There is no chemical smell or products containing ammonia, because the organic color systems originate from roots and plants. The staff and clients do not suffer the myriad health complaints of days gone by. This is modern organic hairdressing, where each style is sculpted and clients emerge feeling refreshed.
