Natural Awakenings Tucson

Inspired by Music and Driven by Love

Karen Olson

More than 40 years ago, Caritas founder Karen Olson began thinking about and being inspired by love. One chief inspiration came from the Cat Stevens, who sang, “O caritas [love], O caritas, be with us always!”

With this song in her head and hope in her heart, she set out on her healing journey, and said “Yes” to the power of love as a healing agent in her work as a psychotherapist and counselor.

Starting in the YWCA in Portland, Oregon, and later the Carondelet Health Network, she helped others with a loving and compassionate presence. When it came time to break free and start anew on her own, she said “Yes” again and the name Caritas for her new healing cooperative became self-evident.

With a mission to serve others with a variety of natural healing modalities, served up by practitioners and teachers grounded in love, Caritas Center for Healing has been nestled in historic Armory Park since 2007.

The center offers acupuncture, yoga therapy, qigong, meditation classes, psychotherapy, couples’ workshops, and more at 330 E. 16th St. Call Olson at 520-940-0486 or to explore offerings further, visit CaritasHealing.com.
