Grand Opening of Kadampa Meditation Center’s New Temple

Kadampa Meditation Center’s new temple, open daily for all to use, will be celebrated during its grand opening weekend, October 16 to 18, at 5326 East Pima Street, in Tucson. The weekend will begin with a ribbon cutting and blessing of the temple at 4:30 p.m., October 16.

Other events include a public talk called Modern Buddhism: The Path of Compassion and Wisdom, held by Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab—retired General Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition and current National Spiritual Director of Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea—at 10 a.m., October 17. The afternoon of October 17 through 18 will include a weekend course with Khyenrab, called A Life of Faith.

The main meditation hall of the temple accommodates over 200 people and includes an 8-foot Buddha statue, among other statues and blessed artwork. A second meditation room will serve for children’s classes, retreats and other activities. The temple will have a bookstore, gift shop, and a community area for dining, socializing and relaxing.
