Explore Sustainability and Community at Avalon Gardens

North America’s largest and longest-sustaining ecovillage is open again for tours. For more than 30 years, Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage has been a popular destination for people from around the world interested in learning about sustainability and community. Set on 220 acres in the scenic Santa Cruz River Valley, Avalon is a sanctuary of natural and spiritual beauty.

With more than 100 full-time residents and volunteers from around the globe working daily toward creating a regenerative culture of spiritual, environmental and social awareness, Avalon Gardens is a prototype for the lifestyle of the near future. Residents share a vision of a planetary consciousness shift toward conservation, sustainability, preservation and regeneration.

Avalon’s EcoTours share a comprehensive look into organic gardening, permaculture, rainwater harvesting, grey water harvesting, heritage crops and heirloom seeds, poly-culture and food diversity, composting, solar and wind energy, green building techniques incorporating natural materials as well as upcycled and recycled materials, watershed management and Arizona’s largest Food Forest. Organic meals are available on tour by
donation.

Visitors can also learn about the spiritual and social systems that foster and sustain the interpersonal aspects of the ecovillage community.
