It’s time to get inspired! This issue of Natural Awakenings is all about “Inspired Living”. The beginning of a new season, a new school year, a new fitness regimen—or maybe a new creative endeavor! It is National Yoga Month, so maybe this is the time to start a new practice or restart an old favorite that you haven’t enjoyed in a while.

Inspiration can come in many forms, and we take a good look at creativity on page 22 in “Art’s Embrace: Healing Through Creativity”. Whether that art is created with paints or danced with the body, the creativity that comes alive in any form can have profound healing effects for many. Have you taken time to do something creative lately? Even if just for an hour a week, see if this practice has a positive impact on you.

Another healing modality that can help unique populations is yoga. Trauma-informed yoga practices are using specific poses and routines to help those dealing with trauma and pain, such as veterans, prison populations, bullied teens and women rebounding from abuse. Read more about this powerful practice in “Yoga to Heal Trauma” on page 26.

I hope these pages inspire you to try something new this month, or to pass an article along to a friend or family member who could use a boost of encouragement. Or, take a hint from page 29, “The Power of the Written Note”, and write a few notes to friends—or a lovely letter to yourself!

Create and be well,
Holly
