Natural Awakenings Tucson

Cyclovia Tucson, Arizona’s Biggest Block Party, Returns This Month

After two-and-a-half years, Cyclovia Tucson is returning to the streets in a big way. On March 27 from 9am to 3pm, five miles of car-free city streets will be open to people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, roll or skate and enjoy neighborhoods, participate in free activities, support local businesses and connect.

Since October 2021, Living Streets Alliance (LSA) has been hosting Cyclovia Remix, visiting a different Cyclovia route each month in a hybrid celebration of vibrant neighborhoods throughout the city. LSA hosted hundreds of people at pop-up events in parks, distributed bike light sets with Pima County Department of Environmental Quality, led bike group rides with Tucsonans of all ages, serviced bikes in need of repair and provided children with free bike helmets thanks to the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility. In partnership with the Pima County Health Department, hundreds of vaccines were administered at Cyclovia Remix events.

These smaller community events have been building excitement for the March 27 Cyclovia Tucson route connecting Jácome Plaza and the City of South Tucson. Attendees will enjoy some of Tucson’s oldest neighborhoods as they make their way between seven different activity hubs, parks, schools and South 4th Avenue’s restaurant row. Dig in the dirt at Drachman’s eco-themed hub, get down with Zumba while watching BMX bikers fly through the air, bounce those worries away at Ochoa or pick up dog treats all along the route.

The 17th Cyclovia Tucson event is presented by Banner – University Medicine and made possible with additional support from Pima County Department of Environmental Quality, City of Tucson, Cigna, The Downtown Clifton, the City of South Tucson, Arizona Commission on the Arts and dozens of other partners and sponsors.

Living Streets Alliance (LivingStreetsAlliance.org) is a nonprofit advocacy organization that envisions streets as living public spaces connecting people to places and to each other. LSA’s mission is to advocate for a thriving Tucson by creating great streets for all of us. LSA is improving access to healthy, sustainable modes of transportation through outreach, education, advocacy and research.
