At Tucson Counseling Associates (TCA), the team of highly trained therapists supports the healing of mind, body and spirit with the aid of ketamine. Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a psychedelic assisted therapy with an emphasis on the psychotherapy. KAP is a relatively new approach that arose in response to the data coming out of ketamine infusion centers regarding seeing improvement in mental health conditions.
However, most infusion centers are not doing concurrent therapy with the administration of ketamine. TCA believes that this piece is crucial, as this is what lends to long-term transformation. They offer a program that will prepare clients for their ketamine sessions, encourage them to explore their mind while within the ketamine space and assist them in integrating the experience afterward.
As this field is new, and thus somewhat fragile, TCA finds it crucial to offer it in the utmost ethical way. To this measure, the team honors an ethics pledge that includes the following:
“Tucson Counseling Associates respectfully acknowledges that we are located on the occupied lands of the Tohono O’odham and Yaqui peoples. We believe in holding healthy therapeutic and relational boundaries through letting go of our own agendas and listening to the needs of our clients. We believe in interconnectivity, and through healing ourselves we in turn heal our families, communities and the earth herself. We believe plant medicines/compounds are healers and teachers. We believe the narrative around the use of psychedelics should include all voices, not just those in the medical/mental health fields.”
TCA specializes in anti-oppressive outpatient psychotherapy services for children, teens, adults, couples and families. They empower clients to collaborate and take an active role in deciding treatment goals, frequency and duration.
TCA is a teaching facility that provides clinical supervision and training to associate level clinicians and facilitates workshops and training for community members as well as professionals interested in working with clients in alternative relationships/lifestyles or psychedelic integration.
