Reiki Reduces Stress and Balances Energy

Reiki translates as “universal life force” and is the leading energy technique that promotes healing, stress reduction and well being. Benefits of a Reiki treatment can be as simple as helping us relax, sleep better or feel fewer of life’s aches and pains. It can also be an important component of healing of serious illness and disease. Reiki practitioners have developed the ability to recreate energy balance on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels through a series of attunements passed on from Reiki master to student.

If the life force is diminished or blocked in some way, the function of the body is diminished and illness and disease can result. Reiki restores the flow of energy, just as acupressure and acupuncture do, by removing blockages to the flow of qi (another word for life force). Studies of Reiki have been made at the University of Arizona in their school of integrative medicine.

Medical studies have shown Reiki to have a significant impact on the healing of cancer. Television’s Dr. Oz has a Reiki practitioner present in his operating room. Reiki programs for patients are present in a significant number of hospitals as medical staff recognizes its immediate benefits in calming emotions, helping sleep, and normalizing blood pressure and heart rate. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved pulsing electromagnetic field therapy to stimulate bone growth in bone fractures and breaks at a frequency of 7Hz; the same as, and sometimes lower than, the electrical pulse coming from a Reiki practitioner.

Judy Ferrig, MS, Reiki master teacher, teaches all levels of Reiki and is accredited by NCBTMB to offer continuing education hours. Contact her at JudyFerrig@comcast.net.
