Natural Awakenings Tucson

Locally Hand-Crafted Beers Served at Borderlands Brewing Company

Borderlands Brewing Company, of Tucson, offers locally hand-crafted beers made with natural, locally grown ingredients. The tap room opens at noon, Wednesday through Sunday.

“Craft beer starts with just four simple ingredients: water, barley, hops, and yeast,” explains Michael Mallozzi, president of Borderlands. “It is made in small batches by local artisans, and in many cases reflects the flavors and ingredients of the surrounding community. Nowhere is that more evident than with Borderlands Brewing Company. Borderlands starts with these four ingredients, and sources additional local flavors to make some truly unique beers.”

One of Borderlands’ most popular beers is the Prickly Pear Wheat. Like the name implies, the beer features the fruit of the prickly pear cactus, which is harvested locally from Southern Arizona farms, and adds a unique floral tanginess and pink hue to the beer. Other unique creations include their La Morena Nut Brown—made with locally grown roasted pecans that the region is known for—and Noche Dulce—a smooth porter featuring vanilla beans grown in Mexico.
