Reflexology is All in the Touch

Feb 28, 2020 06:43AM
Reflexology offers more than a foot massage. It’s not limited to just relieving painful feet but goes much further and deeper into our long held tension patterns. The feet are nerve rich and therefore very sensitive, and our sensitivity is what receives the relaxing signals that the therapist is stimulating. It’s possible to touch into the wealth of energy and natural balance within us if only we could totally relax.

The quality of the practitioner’s touch is essential to our complete relaxation. A skilled and attuned practitioner can feel the tension points throughout the feet that indicate stress patterns in the body and with a relaxed presence can help the nervous system settle. The technique is less important than the quality of presence. When the client feels this level of relaxation, the tension can simply dissolve. Science has proven that a relaxed body can heal faster and more completely than a tense one.

Attuned touch allows for real connection to our body. In a chaotic world, less body tension and more connection with ourselves provides stability and support for a more relaxed life, so we move and live with more freedom and less suffering.
