Reiki: What is it and How Does it Work?

Reiki translates as “universal life force” and is an energy modality that promotes healing, stress reduction and well-being. Benefits of a reiki treatment can be as simple as helping to relax, sleep better or feel less of life’s aches and pains. It can also be an important component of healing of serious illness and disease. Reiki practitioners have developed the ability to re-create energy balance on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels through a series of attunements passed on from Reiki Master to student.

How does reiki heal? If the life force is diminished or blocked in some way, the function of the body is diminished and illness and disease can result. Reiki restores the flow of energy by removing blockages to the flow of chi (another word for life force).

Medical studies have shown reiki to have a significant impact on the healing of cancer. Dr. Oz has a reiki practitioner present in his operating room. Reiki programs for patients are in a significant number of hospitals, as medical staff recognize immediate benefits. The FDA approved pulsing Electromagnetic Field Therapy to stimulate bone growth in bone fractures and breaks at a frequency of 7Hz—the same as, and sometimes lower than, the electrical pulse coming from a reiki practitioner.

Reiki services enhance physical, emotional, energetic, mental and spiritual well-being for clients in whatever ways are for the highest good. Development of clarity and focus as well as connection with soul’s purpose lead to alignment and manifestation. Opening of energy pathways enhances immunity and heals illness and injury in the physical body, while balance on the energetic level increases one’s ability to follow their path in this life with love and gentle lessons.
