Medicare Made Simple with Appropriate Complimentary Guidance
Whether one is signing up for Medicare for the first time or already on Medicare, it is important to know these dates/times of year when decisions regarding plans are easiest to make. From the Annual Enrollment Period from October 15 through December 7 each year, one can join, switch or drop a plan. Coverage will begin on January 1 (as long as the plan gets the request by December 7).
During Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, From January 1 through March 31 each year, if one is enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, they can switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan or switch to Original Medicare (and join a separate Medicare drug plan) once during this time.
Medicare can be complex. There are numerous plans, plan combinations, benefits, rules and exceptions—all of which can be confusing. Buying health insurance is a huge investment, so we want to find a plan that meets our needs. An ethical and knowledgeable agent or broker can help get the best value for our money. Agents or brokers who sell health insurance products related to Medicare have to pass a test on their knowledge of Medicare every year.
One of the benefits of working with an independent Medicare broker or agent is that they represent many health insurance companies. They can present one with plan options from different carriers, increasing the chances of finding the right fit. Working with an independent Medicare insurance agent means getting to choose policy options from different companies. Independent agents and brokers are more likely to give unbiased plan recommendations and advice.
“Seniors are bombarded by mixed messages in the media and in the mail about Medicare, particularly during this time of year. Many also receive multiple phone calls from solicitors each day. As with many things these days, not everyone representing themselves is a helper, or can be trusted,” explains Holly Baker, an independent Medicare broker in the Tucson area. “As an independent agent, my goal is educate, inform and be of service to those making decisions about Medicare. It’s my passion to be of service in this way. I am looking to better each person I come into contact with.”
In addition to publishing Natural Awakenings Magazine, as a licensed health and life independent insurance agent specializing in Medicare, Holly Baker is now offering complimentary consultations for those turning 65 soon and for those already on Medicare who would like to review their current plans and examine their options.
